A day at Petaling Street

A few weeks ago, Matta Fair was held at PWTC so me and my friends decided to have a look at the packages that will be offered there. We went there in the morning and found out there were not much to see so we decided to go around Petaling Street to find some good food for our lunch. It has been a while since I came here. Anyway we started our lunch with wantan mee at Koon Kee.

The wantan mee tasted good but I found it is a bit too oily. Besides wantan mee, it also serves chicken rice here but we didn't try it out. Our next stop will be the Hokkien fried noodle at Kim Lian Kee. This restaurant was established a few decades ago and it is still famous till now.

The Hokkien fried noodle is famous around the patrons around the area but maybe I am not into oily food so I just found it to be just ok. Nevertheless, this restaurant offers lots of variety in the menu that we have seen. Our last stop will the the Claypot Chicken Rice at Hong Kee.

Well, perhaps I can see this is the best among the 3 food that I have tasted. The Claypot Chicken Rice really tasted nice and it has the combination of chicken and and 'Lap Cheong' (dried pork sausage). Our stomach were already full after this third visit so we decided to make a stop and perhaps we will be back again next time to taste more food.

Petaling Street is located at Jalan Petaling, Kuala Lumpur and it can easily be reached through the LRT at the Plaza Rakyat Station.

A few weeks ago, I have posted up the egg tarts from Tong Kee. This time, I will like to introduce more about this shop which I am recently addicted to its bakery and also the varieties of pastries.

The one I mostly visit is the Puchong branch. There were lots of customers especially during weekends.

Sweet Chat Cafe Midvalley

This is actually my second visit to Sweet Chat Cafe at Midvalley. My friend was craving for the food there so we decided to make a stop at the cafe.

We made our order as soon as we got our place to seat. Browsing through the menu, there were quite a lot of variety to choose ranging from the main meals to the desserts. I actually just ordered the dessert as I had already eaten while my friend ordered the lunch set.

Pamelo Mango Soup

I ordered the Pamelo Mango Soup as my dessert but it was a bit dissapointing. The mango doesn't look fresh and soup looks too watery. On the other hand, the set lunch that my friend ordered consist of a drink, the main meal and also a dessert.

The drink

Curry Laksa

This is definitely a must to try out. The curry is tasteful enough and its smells nice. They were generous in giving the ingredients too.

 Wan Tan

I certainly loved the wan tan. Wrapped inside is a medium sized prawn.

Glutinous Ball With Peanut

Last but not least was the Glutinous Ball which is wrapped around with peanut. There were 2 different flavours given inside each of the ball which is the black sesame and also the peanut.

Overall, the food was quite good and I will like to try out some of the other items in their menu but they certainly need to improve their dessert quality.

Sweet Chat Cafe is located at:

Egg Tarts at Canton-I And Tong Kee

Recently I went for a hunt for egg tarts around KL and Selangor area and I decided to try this 2 place as recommended by my friends. The first one was the egg tart from Canton-I located at The Gardens Midvalley.

The egg tart from Canton-I is really crispy and the texture is soft. Canton-I egg tarts are similar to the ones sold at Hong Kong.

On the same day itself, I went to try out a different egg tart at a famous outlet in Bandar Puchong Jaya. Tong Kee is famous for its egg tarts and also some other bakeries items. The outlet is just opposite the IOI Boulevard and it is quite easy to spot.

I tried out the butter egg tarts and the taste is totally different from the ones at Canton-I. The texture and the shape is also different. The taste is sweeter and its bigger in size.

Each of this egg tart has its own specialty in taste and it depends on the individual. Comparing both of this, I would say I prefer the ones from Tong Kee as the taste is better and cheaper.

Canton-I is located at:
